Nissan Dashboard Symbols and Meanings
When you notice that one of your dashboard warning lights is illuminated during your Jacksonville drives, you may be wondering about the root cause. Don’t panic! While certain Nissan dashboard warning lights may indicate a significant issue with your vehicle that requires immediate attention, many are simply a sign that your vehicle is in need of maintenance in the near future. Greenway Nissan of Brunswick has provided a guide to some of the more common Nissan dashboard symbols and meanings below.
A Guide to the Nissan Dashboard Warning Lights
- Brake Warning Light (red): This light can indicate issues with the parking brake or foot brake system. It may be sending an alert that the brake fluid is low, or if the ABS warning is also illuminated, it could be due to an issue with how the ABS is functioning.
- Charge Warning Light: If this light is on, the charging system may not be operating as it should. Turn the engine off and inspect the alternator belt. If it is missing or broken, bring your vehicle in for service as soon as possible.
- Engine Oil Pressure Warning Light: This light provides a warning when the oil pressure is too low. If this light pops on, pull over when it is safe to do so and contact your local Nissan dealer.
- Master Warning Light: This light will appear on your dashboard if a warning message also appears on your vehicle information display.
- Electronic Power Steering Warning Light: If this light is on when the engine is running, it could be a sign that the electronic power steering is in need of service. You will still have control of the vehicle, but more effort will be required to steer, especially when making tight turns or driving at low speeds.
- Low Tire Pressure Warning Light: Your Nissan vehicle features a Tire Pressure Monitoring System. If the tire pressure is low in one or more of your vehicle’s tires, this light will illuminate in addition to a “Tire Pressure Low – Add Air” message on the vehicle information display.
